What to Expect when Entering Barbados
I am one of the few who have had the pleasure of traveling recently. My youngest sister got married in Miami in January, and my Mum, my sister and I flew up to attend. Other than everyone having on masks at Miami International Airport, you would not really notice a big difference in getting through the airport, both entering and leaving.
When arriving in Barbados, however, it is very obvious that this is not business as usual.
A Sit down with Chris Hoad
If the walls of The Mews restaurant could talk, we would have to put a gag order on them. This iconic restaurant on 2nd Street Holetown has been around for the past 3 decades, serving up the best libations, food and merriment that the west coast has to offer. I sat down with Chris Hoad this past weekend to talk about his restaurant, and to find out what he has been doing as it is certainly business unusual right now.
There Is No Place Like Home
There is no place like home…no truer words have been said, especially in the midst of our current reality.
When You Know You Know
Most of my clients have heard me say, “you have to kiss a lot of frogs!”. I am referring to the number of houses that you sometimes have to see before you find THE ONE. Searching for the perfect home, whether it be the primary home for you and your family or a second (or third) home, brings with it a lot of emotions: excitement, anxiety, impatience, surprise and sometimes even resignation.
What does “Furnished”, “Appliances Only”, and “Unfurnished” mean for a listing?
If you were to take a poll, and ask - “What’s the difference between furnished, appliances only and unfurnished?” - you will get a myriad of answers. Funnily enough, even though each answer will vary there lies a bit of truth in each one. The definition of these terms will vary from property to property, but I have broken down the essentials that you need to know.
Brexit, What this means to Barbados
They do not call us Little England for nothing! My car stereo is locked onto BBC as my listening choice while I am on the road, and Brexit has been the trending topic for the last couple of years, and especially now with October 31st looming overhead. Will there be a No-deal Brexit? What will this mean for the UK going forward?
If you are anything like me, then you too are obsessed with HGTV, and especially shows like Fixer Upper, Love it or List It, Flip or Flop etc. You get the picture. These shows take “ugly duckling” homes and transform them into dream homes. I always think, why can’t we do that here?
Hot Spot - 1.11 East Beach
This is the perfect location for a delicious coffee in the morning, (the best) rum punches any time of the day or night, sundowners, and for those looking for world-class music.
House Hunting Checklist
Karyn Fakoory, Real Estate Agent
Choosing a second home is an exciting prospect, but for some it may be equally overwhelming. Through years of experience and client feedback, our agent Karyn Fakoory has found that it may be helpful for homebuyers to outline key "must-haves" before they start their search. She has come up with a detailed checklist, and invites all prospective homeowners to use it as a key tool to assist in the decision-making process.
WHY BARBADOS? WHY NOW?
As is expected, we real estate practitioners in Barbados have been speculating and trying to forecast the short- to long-term effects associated with the fact that the citizens of the United Kingdom have voted to leave the European Union. The possibilities coming out of the so-called Brexit have ranged from scenarios of depression and out-right doom and gloom, to frenzied optimism. However, we sit with bated breath as it remains to be seen how the chips will truly fall.
