Selling my home was an emotional situation. My love affair with Barbados goes back to 1990.... so having made the decision to sell I wanted the best advisors. Rachel Edwards at Terra Luxury has been instrumental in my viewings and while the initial stages were somewhat unfavorable, she was always confident that the right buyer would come along. Rachel is friendly, yet professional and has a very compassionate nature: she contacted me weekly and reassured me that the next few steps would be victorious as it was. In trying to satisfy our clients, our vendors and the market during this uncertain time we learned a thing or two about constantly adapting, innovating, educating and being active mediators/negotiators in every single deal that came our way.The past few months to say the least have been a whirlwind for us at The Terra Group.
Most know me as a “social butterfly”, “Hotfoot”, “Robot” … It’s ok, I am not offended by your name calling. That’s what I thrive on. I feed off the energy of my team, clients and friends. The first day that we decided to get our teams to work remotely I asked Andrew if I could take my chair home for my bad back and he said I could take anything but the toilet paper. Shain grabbed my chair for me and we walked through the office looking like bandits, threw it in my trunk and I started to head home. I remember speaking to Hayden on the way home about the plans for our full team and I remember feeling like I was in a bad movie. A client today said to me, “It’s not a bad movie this is a freaking horror show”.
It’s 2020! I always start the year with reflecting (not looking back… because the only time to do that is when you are reversing) on achievements and then use that to frame my mind on what I want for myself and my team.
What a year 2019 was! Some may say it wasn’t great but I think it’s where your mindset was. I saw growth; growth with my team, stronger bonds and in turn more sales due to cooperation and with the known fact that two heads (or sometimes 21 heads) are better than one.
This blog is not only about the top 10 sales for 2019 but what I learned from my resilient team and the process along the way. They really are a bunch of rockstars!
Here we go!
Everyone’s first is a little awkward … right?
At the stroke of midnight on 1st January 2019, I said to myself that this is the year I will buy my first home. Since I moved to Barbados, I have rented a total of 9 properties. Never have I felt settled. Never have I felt good about paying rent and upkeeping someone else’s home when I knew that it wasn’t mine.

Growing up in our family home in Trinidad, I remember fondly many Saturday evenings curling up on the couch next to my dad watching his favorite show Star Trek. My dad worked harder than anyone I knew then and to this date I can hand on heart say, he still works harder than anyone I know now.
Our Sales Manager, Rachel Edwards hopes to spread some love and gratitude in her new blog post.

Being a huge fan of anything Michelle touches in terms of restaurant design and service and in total adoration of anything Larry cooks, I was beside myself when he called to ask if I could come to be a ‘guinea pig’ for Dockside at Port Ferdinand. This is the new masterpiece of Larry and Michelle Rogers, which is nestled in Port Ferdinand.
As the Winter Season rolls into 2018, it seems timely to share empirical insight on what $1M can buy. There has never been a better time than the current real estate market to purchase a home in Barbados.
Real estate market trends reveal that homes listed for at least 2 to 3 seasons, with no successful buyers, has caused sellers to rethink their property prices for an advantageous sale. To accommodate this, motivated sellers may be willing to work out a mutually beneficial deal with an attractive offer or adjust their properties’ prices to snag the right buyer. For west coast buyers this is excellent news as that exclusive market now has the best property prices that it has seen in the past 10 years!”
So, that said, what can $1M get you? Luxury. West Coast Living and yes… Beachfront property!
Barbados is home to a number of absolutely amazing villas that really are truly special in the unrefined sense of the word. And, despite all that’s been going on in the global arena, we have seen a few sales of mega-luxury properties that tell us there is still confidence and interest in that segment of the market. Moreover, recent years have also seen the island record increases in luxury travel, something which has always been considered a positive indicator for the market.
